Mahavir Gopal Krishna Go Shala Trust is a committed non-profit organization dedicated to the protection, care, and service of cows. Founded on the pious day of 5th September 2015, our journey began with the inauguration of the first cow shed graced.
Our organization was founded on 5th September 2015 with the inauguration of our first Gaushala shed in Maval, Ardav, Lonavala, Pune. The foundation was laid with the blessings of esteemed dignitaries and saints who shared our vision of Jeevdaya (compassion toward all beings).
We currently shelter over 350 cows, including injured, sick, abandoned, and rescued cattle. Each cow is provided with nutritious food, medical treatment, a clean environment, and affectionate care.
Our team works tirelessly with local police departments and youth volunteers to conduct rescue operations that save cows from illegal slaughter. In one such mission, we successfully saved 12 innocent cows and gave them a new life in our Gaushala.
In our Gaushala, we also conduct spiritual sevas like Gau Poojan, Annadaan, Gau Daan, and memorial rituals, allowing devotees to connect spiritually through seva.
In Indian culture people consider the cow an equivalent to maternal management. Hindu mythology recognizes the cow as a sacred animal which earns equal appreciation to divine beings. Science fails to comprehend the medicinal value that exists in both Gaumutra and Gobar apart from the milk which a cow provides us.
The number of healing requirements inside the body of a cow surpasses what a human living span can fully utilize. According to belief the soul remains connected to the tail of the cow after death and the animal pulls the soul across Vaitarni Nadi. Hindu mythology shows Cow riding with God groups including Krishna and his cowherd role as well as Shiva who rides upon his Bull Nandi.
Shastra records indicate that after residing in a cow’s form one becomes human in their following rebirth. In India the cow achieves divine status to the extent that authorities do not consider it as an animal. Cow exists as “Kamdhenu” which means divine cow according to ancient Hindu literature for meeting all requirements. The four legs of this animal represent the “Vedas” , the Hindu holy scriptures and its udder symbolizes the four life goals that include material prosperity, desire, righteousness and liberation. Its horns stand for the gods.
The privilege and joy of caring for cattle during GoSeva activities exceeds all other joys according to traditional teachings and we stand to benefit from Gau Sewa as explained in our Puranas so we must all willingly volunteer for GoSeva activities.
